Welcome
Welcome to the City of
Bath, Maine, Assessor’s Office online assessment database.
This database provides you with information on each parcel of real
estate in Bath, along with the ability to search for sales of properties that
might be similar to your selected property.
Bath's most recent revaluation was completed with valuations as of April 1, 2019. For more information on the overall results of the revaluation, visit the Assessor's web page at http://www.cityofbath.com/2019-Revaluation/.
All property in Maine is assessed based on its condition and status as of April 1 each year, although it takes several months for the assessor to update property information each year. Final values for each April 1 are generally available after September 1.
Ownership information in our online database is updated nightly.
However, information on sales of Bath properties is often not received by the Assessor's office until 6-8 weeks after the date of sale, so recent sales may not be reflected in this database. If you are the new owner of a property and need to update the mailing address for the property, please contact our office (see our contact information, below).
The database generally shows property valuations as of the most recent April 1.
However, parcels that have been created, split or otherwise changed since April 1 of the most recent year may be displayed with a preliminary valuation for the next tax year. Note that all valuations for the current year are subject to change and will not be finalized until after value updates are complete in August of each year.
Tax bills are generally mailed in mid-September and are due on October 15. The most recent tax bills for all Bath properties are available from the Assessor's web site, at https://www.cityofbath.com/departments/AssessorsOffice/PropertyTaxBills. They are sorted by the name of the owner of record on April 1, but the PDF of all the tax bills can be downloaded and searched by address or map and lot.
If you wish to estimate the most recent tax amount for a parcel, multiply the current valuation, less any exemptions, by the current tax rate. The tax rate, expressed in dollars per $1,000 of valuation, can be found on the Assessor's web page (https://www.cityofbath.com/departments/AssessorsOffice).
- To get the math right, the tax rate has to be expressed in decimal terms. For example to estimate taxes using our 2021 tax rate of $20.30 per $1,000 of valuation, value must be multiplied by 0.02030, the decimal conversion of $20.30/$1,000.
- The tax rate generally changes each year. Estimating taxes using the most recent tax rate does not accurately indicate what a future tax bill will be.
Please contact our office if you find errors in the description of a property so that we may update our records.
Thank you!
