PLEASE NOTE: FISCAL YEAR 2023 VALUES ARE AVAILABLE

In accordance with Massachusetts’ General Laws, the Chelsea Assessing Department has conducted a review of real and personal property, effective for the current Fiscal Year, 2023. The standard for assessments is “Full and Fair Cash Value”, as of January 1, 2022. In order to achieve that standard, the Department has collected and analyzed market data of various types. This includes the sales of the various types of property in Chelsea, as well as Income & Expense data used in valuing certain types of commercial and industrial properties. These values are available for examination at this web-site or in the Assessing Department, Room 211 City Hall, during normal office hours.

The 2023 tax rates have been approved by the Department of Revenue.

Residential: $12.38

Commercial & Industrial: $24.88

Personal Property: $24.88

The FY 2023 Residential Exemption is $2,885.77 in tax or $233,099 in value
