The Town of
Walpole has a quarterly tax billing schedule for real estate. The tax billing
year is based on a fiscal year and not a calendar year. The fiscal year is from
July 1st to June 30th. FY 2023 begins July 1, 2022 and ends June 30,
2023. Tax Payments are due August 2nd, November 1st, February
1st and May 2nd for FY 2023.
The first two tax bills for FY 2023 are Preliminary Bills, based on last
year taxes.
The 3rd quarter tax bill which will be mailed at the end of December 2022, is referred to as the as the FY 2023 Actual Tax
Bill. This Bill will show the New Assessment for FY 2023 and the New Tax Rate for FY
2023. Please note the FY 2023 assessments will be based on
Real Estate Sales during calendar year 2021.

Please note the following Important Point: State law requires FY 2023 tax bills
to reflect ownership as of Jan 1, 2022. Property purchased after Jan 1, 2022,
the new owner's name will appear on the FY 2024 1st Quarter Tax Bill
issued July 1, 2023.
The on-line data base is only updated 2 to 3 times a Fiscal Year
